Andrea Zimmerman and David Clemesha are married, have three grown sons, and live in San Diego, California. They love making books!
Andrea grew up in Ohio, New York, Utah, and California. As a child, she loved exploring nature, reading comic books, and riding her horse. She received a BA in Fine Arts for Children and a DDS in dentistry. She teaches classes in writing picture books at UC San Diego. She also enjoys gardening, going for walks, and talking to cats.
David grew up in England and moved to the United States at age sixteen. When he was young, David loved playing tennis, drawing, and reading. He received BA and MA degrees in English and became an elementary school teacher. These days, he loves studying, going to museums, and listening to music.
Together, their work is a fun process with lots of talking and doing things over to make the book better. Andrea does most of the story writing, and when they create illustrations, David does most of the drawing and Andrea does most of the painting. They use pencil, ink, and acrylic paint, and Photoshop on the computer. When they celebrate good news, they like to go out for pizza with the family!
